I completed my Bachelor of Music at Ohio University in Athens, OH; my Master of Arts in Music Therapy at St. Mary of the Woods College in Terre Haute, IN; and am currently a Doctoral student of music therapy at IUPUI in Indianapolis, IN. I am currently serving as on the GLR Board of Directors as a representative of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. I also serve on the AMTA Board of Directors as the Council Coordinator of Association Services.
I have been a board-certified music therapist since 2015 and have experience supporting people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and mental health diagnoses in 1:1 and group settings. I am an advocate for trauma-informed care in the music therapy profession, which was my master’s thesis topic. I am also passionate about education, and have supervised dozens of practicum students and interns as a professional.
I use a positive, strength-based, and trauma-informed approach in my clinical work. I prioritize a reciprocal relationship between the person-supported, the therapist, and the music as a meaningful and affirming experience. Safety, respect, dignity, and support are essential elements to my clinical work.
