Objectives:
Objective 1: Participants will be able to identify 2 non-musical materials consistent with music therapy goals and clients learning styles.(Technology for communication- Section 2, D12)
Objective 2: Participants will identify 4 techniques for how to communicate with a device user and how to ensure users can participate. (Section 2: C2, 2: D3, 2: D8, 3: 2fff. 3: 5x, 3:5cc, 5: A7)
Objective 3: Participants will identify 3 rules to AAC etiquette. (Section 3, Aa, b, e)
Objective 4: Participants will identify 3 specific communication systems that can be used to communicate with non-speaking clients (Section 2: D1, 3: A2 n, v, aa, bb, cc, kk, fff)

Instructor Qualifications & Credentials:
Shelley Anderson is a board certified music therapist and an Assistive Technology Specialist certified through California State Dominguez Hills and an AAC Specialist certified through San Francisco State University. Shelley is passionate about providing education and options for those who are assisting individuals who are non-speaking or have difficulty with spoken word. Shelley oversees Mainstay’s Family and Caregiver Training programs, offering 1:1 consultations with families on how to best support their loved one’s use of AAC Devices. She is specifically trained to complete AAC Evaluations to help individuals select the device type that best fits their needs.
