Mainstay offers a National Roster (AMTA) Internship site for music therapy students from any university. Our program places a strong emphasis on developing musical skills that become secondary to clinical work in order to truly be present with others in the moment. Like our company in general, our internship places a strong value on genuine connection with individuals as we support their growth and wellness. As a part of Mainstay, interns will learn first hand how a private practice operates and about related therapy modalities by being involved with a co-program (speech therapy, behavior consulting, recreational therapy). Mainstay works primarily with individuals with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities through Indiana’s Medicaid Waiver Program and with at-risk kids. This internship is designed to be a 40 hour week for 6 months to complete the required 1040 hours of internship and be eligible to sit for the Certification Board Exam.
Our Supervising Music Therapist’s caseload is fully clinic based. Interns will be based on-site for a majority of their schedule.
Interns will be involved with Mainstay’s team of therapists, weekly team meetings, peer & clinical supervision
