Hello! I’m Yurimar, and for short I’m called Yuri (ju-ree). I’m a board-certified music therapist who graduated from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas in 2023. I interned at Mainstay Music Therapy that same year, where I had the privilege of working with a diverse range of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Supporting and accompanying them on their journeys was an opportunity that prepared me for my future endeavors. 

Currently, at Mainstay Music Therapy, I dedicate myself to serving clients in the clinic space in Fort Wayne. I practice from a resource-oriented approach to therapy, supporting clients with identifying their strengths and the tools they possess to support their health and well-being. In all experiences, I find joy in approaching each person not with the goal of “fixing a problem”, but existing together and meeting them where they are at in their own processes. 

Outside of my responsibilities as a music therapist, I work as a consultant for a non-profit organization that focuses on drug prevention for youth in the United States and Latin America. I enjoy going on road trips, reading, trying new cooking recipes, and spending time with my husband and our dog, Lana!
